Monday 3/9/09 The Weather has Been Beautiful!!
So, Chris and I had a really good weekend. He seems to be beginning to recover from his surgery. He is able to stay up for fairly long periods of time now, and doesn’t need assistance in and out of his chair, so in that aspect he is improving. We are working on increasing his appetite which is a challenge but we haven’t given up hope---not yet.
Two of his childhood friends made the trek Friday night from Savannah, GA, to spend some time with him. As always they were shocked to see how much he has changed physically, but both have commented on how mentally it’s the same ol’ Chris, same positivity, and same humor. They both stayed over and spent the majority of Saturday with Chris as well. The weather was beautiful so I ended up working in the yard while they visited on the front porch. It was cathartic for me to take my frustration out while working in the yard and good for Chris to be in the warm weather and fresh air. His friends stayed until supper time so they were able to have a nice visit and both are planning on coming back up in the next couple of weeks to visit some more.
Sunday brought family to visit- momma (his mom), Stan, his aunt and uncle and his grandmother whom we fondly call Grams, and while we were visiting I decided since I can’t control Chris’s situation, I am going to devote my energy into getting the house ready for the babies arrival as in my heart I know that this time is GOING to work.
First things first, Spring is around the corner and our front porch needs repainting, and the damage from our fire a few weeks ago needs to be repaired. Since I won’t be able to do much over the next couple of weeks, Chris’s family has decided to plan a painting and yard party to help get the yard ready for spring while I supervise. I think it will be a really nice time for family to gather and share in fellowship. We are planning on trying to due this the following weekend after my surgery so that I am able to take a little vacation (in my bed) the weekend of my surgery and catch up on all of those great movies that I have missed while working and being in school. I have two great “nurses” who will be tending to me while me and the babies get more acquainted.
One of these “nurses”, is kind of like my surrogant daughter. Her and her sister lived next to Chris and I, and after her mom took off in search of herself, Chris and I stepped in as neighbors to help their dad watch out for the girls. As anyone knows, well rounded children are raised by “villages” not just by their parents. Anyway, one thing led to another and the girls and I became very close, especially the youngest and since their dad worked long hours the girls spent a lot of time at our house. For three years of our lives we were in the midst of helping to raise two little girls that were blossoming into their teen years.
The youngest, Cortny, is now 17 and preparing to graduate from high school. She is one of the most brilliant, talented, and beautiful girls I have ever met and I can’t wait to cheer her on as she leaps into the world on her own. In her own sweet way, when we told her that we were going to try again to conceive she said, “I don’t care whether or not I get a little brother or sister as long as they are healthy.”
We love her so!!!
We are still on track for the saline sonohistogram this Friday and if all goes well, 1 week from Friday we will have our transfer!!
*****Please keep us in your prayers that everything will go smoothly******
We are almost there!!!
